Career-changing can be daunting, and at IEMA we often receive queries from individuals who want to move into a green job, but are unsure where to start. We know that a large proportion of the workforce of the future are in employment now, and that we also have a green skills gap which we need to improve. It’s therefore important to support those who want to move into a green role and harness their passion for the environment.
We collaborated with Hays UK, a strategic partner of the Green Careers Hub, to bring you this webinar. Paul Gosling, National Director – Sustainability, who regularly talks to both candidates and employers, presented part of this online session to provide tips and advice. The webinar covered:
- Current trends in sustainability and the broader context of green jobs
- How to maximise your value from previous roles and identify your transferable skills and knowledge
- The benefits of volunteering in a green role or organisation
- How to tailor/address the career change in your applications
We also heard from Clare Roberts, IEMA member and Project Manager at EMEC Ecology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. Clare talked about her personal experiences of changing career and moving into a green job.
This session is available to everyone, particularly those who are interested in changing career and moving into a sustainability-focused role, but perhaps don’t know where to start on that journey. The Green Careers Hub can support you, wherever you are on your green careers journey.
