Blue-Green Infrastructure

Blue-Green Infrastructure (BGI) refers to a strategically planned network of natural and semi-natural features – such as parks, green roofs, street trees (green), and rivers, ponds, or sustainable drainage systems (blue) – that deliver a range of environmental, social, and economic benefits.

These systems are integrated into the built environment to manage water, enhance biodiversity, and improve quality of life. (source: CIRIA, 2021)
